Bernedoodles are mixed-breed dogs, which means they were created due to mixing two different breed parents. In this case, the two parents are the Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle. By crossing these two breeds came the Bernedoodle, which shares all the best traits of both breeds.

Like Bernese Mountain Dogs, Bernedoodles are very friendly and incredibly loyal. They also have that unique coat Bernese Mountain Dogs are so renowned for. As for the traits Bernedoodle puppies inherit after Poodles, it’s intelligence, which enables Bernedoodles to learn quickly and behave with the manners you expect from a Poodle.

Bernedoodles are considered a relatively large breed. Therefore, you can expect your Doodle puppy to grow quite extensively. How much? That depends on the specific type of Bernedoodle you get. There are three primary Bernedoodle types – Micro-Mini Bernedoodles, Mini Bernedoodles, and Standard Bernedoodles.

  • Micro-mini Bernedoodle puppies are often called “teddy bear” Bernedoodles, as they stand at 12-17 inches when fully grown, weighing anywhere from 10-24 pounds.
  • Mini Bernedoodles are slightly bigger than micro-mini ones, reaching 18-22 inches when grown and weighing between 30 to 55 pounds.
  • Standard Bernedoodle puppies can grow even 2.5 feet tall and weigh even over 100 pounds.

Bernedoodle puppies aren’t overly energetic. Of course, it doesn’t mean they can lie down the whole day doing nothing. They still require a lot of playtimes, but not more than standard puppies receive. What’s great about Bernedoodle puppies is that they are very intelligent, meaning you can quickly train them how to behave. The average Bernedoodle litter can vary between the specific types of this breed. On average, when breeding dogs, the Bernedoodle litter consists of 6 to 8 puppies.
