Sales Tax:
Illinois breeders must pay a sales tax on the sale of every puppy of 7.25%. Because the transaction constitutes a retail purchase, all sellers must collect tax on all merchandise they sell, file reports of all sales, and remit the state’s required sales tax. As responsible business owners within Illinois, we add a sales tax of 7.25% to each purchase. Please note that sales tax is not optional and is always the purchaser’s responsibility.
