If you are coming out to our bio-secure nursery, Central Illinois Doodles offers a few traveling options for your new Bernedoodle baby straight to your airport. Puppies must be at least eight weeks old and have been weaned for at least five days for air travel. You can securely and humanely fit your new pet in a special carrier and take them in the cabin as a carry-on bag.
You will need to place your carrier on the floor by your feet and the puppy will need to stay in the carrier until you land at your California airport. There’s usually a fee of $100-$150 in addition to the cost of your ticket. Carriers cost $30 and up.
Some airlines may not allow dogs in the cabin at all and will transport them as cargo in a heated and ventilated hold — we do not partner with these airlines and your puppy will never be placed in cargo! So please make sure you do the research on what airlines allow pets to travel in-cabin as carry-on.
